Cupping and Massage Therapy

The therapeutic use of cups dates back over 2,000 years.  It primarily evolved in Chinese bodywork but is also used in other cultures. Early cupping involved the use of fire and smoke with glass cups to create suction. This suction pulls tissue into the cup and separates the layers of muscle and fascia while stimulating blood flow to the area. Modern methods and materials, like silicone, don’t require fire and smoke to create the suction which eliminates the risk of burns. We use silicone cups in our cupping enhancement for massage, which can be added to any massage 60 minutes or longer for $25. While cupping may feel intense, it should not be painful. Please let your massage therapist know if you experience any discomfort. Cupping may leave dark marks that can take several days to fade.

Therapeutic cupping benefits may include
